New Delhi, April 25
In a heartfelt tribute to the victims of the recent Pahalgam terror attack, students from Delhi University’s North Campus gathered on Thursday evening for a candle march organized by YUVA, a prominent youth group known for its nationalist engagement. The march, held at the Vivekananda Statue near the Arts Faculty, drew a diverse group of students, faculty, and concerned citizens united by a common call—justice for the victims and an uncompromising stand against terrorism. The gathering began at 7:00 PM, with many participants dressed in white as a symbol of peace and mourning. The atmosphere was solemn yet spirited, with candles illuminating the path as students raised slogans and shared poems, speeches, and lokgeet (folk songs) to channel their emotions into a collective voice of resistance.
The recent attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir—where terrorists targeted Hindu civilians and security personnel—has deeply shaken the nation. YUVA’s North Campus unit responded swiftly, framing the march not only as an act of remembrance but as a moral responsibility to stand against terror in any form.“Lighting a candle is not a passive act. It’s a message to the world that we, the youth of this country, refuse to be silent when innocents are slaughtered,” said a speaker from YUVA during the event. Participants echoed this sentiment, with many noting that such student-led movements keep the conscience of the nation alive.
The event concluded with a collective prayer for the departed souls and a pledge to stay vigilant and united against forces that aim to divide the country through violence.
