New Delhi, April 25:
In response to the tragic incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where terrorists reportedly asked civilians their religion before shooting Hindu citizens, students at IIT Delhi organized a candle march on campus to honor the Hindu victims and condemn the brutality.
The horrific attack, which specifically targeted Hindus, has sparked nationwide outrage. Students from all hostels at IIT Delhi came together in solidarity. Within a short span of time, hundreds gathered to pay tribute to the lives lost and raise their voices against religiously motivated violence.
The march was organized with the active involvement of all elected representatives from the Postgraduate (PG) and PhD student bodies. The Deputy and General Secretaries of the Student Activity Council (SAC) also played a crucial role in mobilizing students and ensuring the smooth execution of the event.
Addressing the gathering, a representative from SAC stated, “We are not just students; we are responsible citizens of this nation. What happened in Pahalgam is a humanitarian tragedy. We demand accountability and strict action to prevent such incidents in the future.”
As one of India’s premier institutions, IIT Delhi’s student community emphasized the importance of standing united against hate-driven acts of violence. The event served as both a tribute to the victims and a call for justice, reflecting the growing concern among the youth regarding religiously motivated attacks.
The candle march highlighted the collective grief and anger of students while sending a strong message that terrorism, in any form, cannot be tolerated — especially when it is directed against a community based on faith.
