The results of DUSU elections (September 19, 2025) have seen a huge turnaround. While the ABVP was successful in re-establishing its dominance this time with 3 seats, NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla won at the Vice President post and NSUI was restricted to only one seat.
If seen from a political perspective, it becomes clear that this time’s election results have brought to the fore some of the shortcomings of NSUI along with its worse performance than last time.
NSUI’s Setback and Shortcomings:
Firstly, the attempt by NSUI under the leadership of Ronak Khatri to start a new culture in which every incident was made into a spectacle and a reel was made and uploaded on it, but it failed. We saw an example of this when Ronak Khatri of NSUI went to Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) and instead of resolving a student’s issue, he went there and started misbehaviving with the faculty and tried to use the issue as a publicity stunt. This kind of misbehavior with the professors was not liked at all by the students at that time. The adverse consequences of which were visible even in election results.
Failed “Reel Culture” and Public Stunts:
The second and related point is that in order to appease the Indian students who love their culture very much, NSUI’s Ronak Khatri misbehaved with the professors and college administration last year, as we all must have seen their video in which they are seen breaking the glass of the administration office, on the other hand, in Laxmibai College, barging into the principal’s office and smearing cow dung on the walls, all these publicity stunts backfired in the elections, this reflects the students’ own culture in which they should respect their teachers.
Disrespect Towards Teachers and Culture:
Third, during the elections, the NSUI lacked a clear agenda; it contested solely on PR. Their internal factionalism (such as the breakdown of Umanshi Lamba) led to their defeat. Students were confused about which NSUI candidate to vote for—the current one or the former.
The current situation is that Aryan Maan of ABVP has won the post of President of DUSU, along with this, Kunal Chaudhary and Deepika Jha of ABVP are also occupying the posts of Secretary and Joint Secretary, whereas only one candidate of NSUI, Rahul Jhansla, has been able to claim the post of Vice President. Showing complete dominance of ABVP in university.
